Here are a few illustrations I made as promo images for my new brushes - Artisan Crayons for Procreate
For this project, I imagined a world inspired by the classic Planet of the Apes vibe. Instead of a pure sci-fi feel, I turned it into a retro-style illustrated story about a troop of apes taking over a naval ship.
The whole series is built on just two main colors, plus an off-black and the natural tone of the paper.
I love how these wax crayons bring a rich, tactile texture to the artwork, even when the color palette is very limited.
It allows me to be more expressive in my illustrations. I’m learning to embrace imperfections and create a more natural, organic feel.
Whether it’s the way I use the brushes for shading…
...or to create a rough, textured look in the chimpanzees’ fur.
These brushes let me draw freely on my iPad without losing the natural look and feel of real crayons.
Giving me the freedom to be playful and embrace a bit of childish naivety
in my art.
